The Welcome House
By appointment, always
There are no required fields beyond your name and a way to reach you. The rest is simply so we can prepare for a thoughtful first conversation.
From the quiet ridges of Polk County to the cradle of the Blue Ridge, our neighborhoods are placed deliberately — where the land has character and the community has memory.
Polk County, NC — our home and primary neighborhood.
Mountain hamlet with deep porches and longer evenings.
Crossing into upstate South Carolina, by way of orchard country.
Quiet county seat, with a courthouse square that still hums.
We don't believe in hurried tours. Every visit is arranged in advance, so that we can give you our undivided attention — and so the neighborhood can give you its best face.
Plan on two unhurried hours. We'll walk a homesite, share a cup of coffee on the porch of the Welcome House, and answer every question you've thought to ask — and some you haven't.
Evenings and weekends gladly accommodated for traveling guests.
No pressure, no scripts. Just the quiet rhythm of getting to know one another, and the place.
You send a note. We read every word and reply, personally, within a day.
A relaxed conversation — what you're imagining, what we've been building.
An afternoon on the land. We walk the lanes, stop on the porches, listen to the trees.
When the time is right, we put down roots together. No sooner.
We came to look at a homesite. We left with the feeling that we had been waiting our whole lives for a place like this — and that it had been waiting, just as patiently, for us.
A handful of thoughtful dispatches each year — new homes, seasonal happenings, the occasional story from the porch. Never more, never less.
When you're ready, we'd love to set a date. Bring your questions, your imagination, and a comfortable pair of shoes.
Forty minutes south of Asheville via I-26, exit 67. The lane is marked by a stone wall and two old hickories — you'll know it when you see it.
Asheville Regional (AVL) is forty-five minutes north. GSP and CLT each within ninety. We're happy to arrange a private car for guests visiting from afar.
